Invisalign aligns crooked teeth without hassle, discomfort, or conspicuous hardware.

If you're considering braces to straighten your teeth, the thick wires laced through dark metal brackets might be holding you back. InvisalignOr perhaps you already had braces earlier in life and recall the frequent visits to the orthodontist to tighten those wires. Fortunately, you now have alternatives. Invisalign provides people with a comfortable, low-maintenance way of straightening their teeth without sacrificing their appearance.

How does Invisalign work?

Using 3D imaging, you will be given a series of Invisalign trays that are made to the exact specifications of your mouth. These trays, called aligners, are made of a clear, flexible plastic material and fit precisely against your teeth. As your teeth adjust into their proper position, you will change out your aligner for the next one in the series. This process usually takes between nine and fifteen months, with only a few visits to your dentist in between for checkups.

What sets Invisalign apart?

Traditionally, braces have been bulky, metallic appliances that call attention to themselves. Invisalign, however, lives up to its name - the clear aligners are barely noticeable. Many patients report that other people have no idea they're wearing braces. The trays can easily be removed so you can enjoy foods like popcorn, hard candy and apples. There's also no pointed wires or brackets to poke and irritate your gum or cheek tissue.

Because Invisalign trays are removable, you can eat, drink, brush and floss your teeth much more easily than with conventional braces. For best results, however, Dr. Olsen will advise you to wear them as much as possible in the meantime, ideally between 20 and 22 hours per day.

If your teeth could benefit from Invisalign, contact the dental team at Franklin Dental to learn more about smoothing out your smile.
